Although it seems this ran until dark it wasn’t that dark. It was very bright when I set this up and you need to fix the exposure or it jumps around and ruins the movie.

I became sensitive to problem of finding media the other day when I was looking for music to go with one of my new movies. I wanted a certain type of license and I had a length in mind. There was no way to filter the results. This made be think about how difficult it is to find just the movies on my blog.

So now there’s a library. I’m linking to the best quality movies I have. Recently I’ve started using a hi-def format (h.264) at 1280 x 720. I’ve also started leveraging YouTube more because they support this format.

This is pretty much a cloud movie. I started filming early in the day — just a hunch really. As it turned out the sunset over the Chiricahua’s was stunning and I ended up disappointed… still this is pretty nice.

Looking around on the web for the correct spelling of Peloncillo I ran across this great web site — you might want to check it out.

This was filmed on a very windy day. Clearly, there’s a lot of wind up where the clouds are, but it was windy on the ground too. I braced the tripod against a fence to keep it from moving. As far as I can tell, it stayed steady. There some ugly lens artifacts when the sun gets into the frame–still, I think it’s worth a look.

Yikes! It’s February already. Well, a belated Happy New then.

We’ve finished our move to Arizona (on the NM border). There’s a million new opportunities here for intreresting time-lapse movies. The easiest was the koi pond about 30 feet from our front door.

So here’s my first movie of the new year. I didn’t put too much thought into it. (It was more of a test that turned out well.) I hoped that I could get both the sky reflecting in the water and the koi swimming in the water… or whatever koi do in ponds. It worked better then I expected.

Loading...

There are tons of frogs in this pond. They make the most delightful squeak when scared. It doesn’t take much to scare them and the pleasure I take in their squeaking doesn’t work to their benefit. I see them leaping into the pond all the time, but I never see them creeping back on to the shore. I hoped to catch them in this video. Alas, I see none of the crafty little devils.

There are a couple variation of this time-lapse on youtube. This link is to all the movies I’ve posted on youtube. Note that one of them is nearing 10,000 views. That seems amazing to me.

I’m not sure it was required, but I held back my T-Minus submission until after the show. (Here’s the program if you’re interested.) It’s been a few days now and I’ve finally taken a minute to build a version that can be streamed easily–at all actually.

The version for the festival was hi-def, it was a lot of bother to build and well over six hundred megabytes. I did make a few DVDs for my family, Tra-la. What you see here is in my standard 720×480 flv file format.

Without too much ado, I give you Unstuck…
