The Hardware
I’m using the Ricoh GR Digital exclusively for now. I was using my Canon G2 for awhile–I stopped because it requires an external device to trigger the shutter–argg what a bother.
The only things I would like different in this camera is a shorter minimum delay–five seconds is the shortest time and it’s a little too long for some of the shots I want to do. The other obvious need is a larger storage card. I can’t get anything larger than a two gig sd card to work. At 8 mega pixels I can get about an hour (600 frames). If I want longer than an hour I can either use less pixels or I am thinking about swapping cameras on the tripod — I am hoping that I can switch cameras without a visual hiccup. –I will need to test this.
This camera is not sold retail in the US, but can be purchased through ebay.
I’m using a cheap Targus tripod. It’s small and light. I’m thinking about getting a little level to go with this as every once in awhile I panic thinking I’m halfway through a shot and it’s crooked.
Palm was nice enough to give me this messenger bag as a reward for sitting through a day on a product that never shipped. I love it. I keep all my stuff in it — including reading materials, cards, etc. (Things to while away the time.) That way I can pick it up an run whenever I get the urge.
